Who or What?

Simple and short question from me this week:

Who or what inspires you in this pursuit of simplicity?

i think traveling to other countries makes me want to live more simply. third world in particular makes me ashamed of my greed.

living in the US in general makes me want to accumulate. i dont think i can narrow it down much more.

Okay - I'm new to the blog so help me out here - why does making your bed hurt the environment??!!

I'm inspired by Rich Mullins. He made good money as a recording artist and songwriter but always just lived on the average working man's salary and gave the rest away. I wish I knew someone personally who did that---I would be very encouraged just to see it in action.

Hey Lisa. Haha. I think for Jana, this was about freeing herself from a few daily obligations that are not that important in the grand scheme of things. For ME, a made bed makes me feel a bit more relaxed, though. Bed Making = Environmental Concerns? I don't think so!

I'm enjoying seeing how others live out a simple life. So that would be my answer to Phil's question - the lives of others.

I'm like Lance. I haven't traveled to third world countries but, just being around poorer friends here in Nashville encourages me to live more simply and not consume. I let go of the desire to buy a new comforter for my bed when I hang out with those who sleep on just a bare mattress.

Getting out of my cozy little apartment, and getting away from the ads on the TV and internet helps me to escape the pressures of consumerism and my materialistic nature.

If the result of living more simply means having more time and resourses to help others, then that excites me. Like Carrie, the lives of others inspire me and I need to be surrounded by others who have similiar goals... 'cause simplicity doesn't come natural to me.
